    Schumeys 1983 MK2 Golf

    Hey guys!

I had the idea of getting a second car for a while. I wanted an E28, but a good one is hard to find and not cheap nowadays, and I guess parts aren't that cheap and easy find too. So my second idea was a MK2. I always liked Jettas more than Golfs, except maybe the time 15 years ago :b, but clean Jettas are also hard to find now.
Checking Ebay for local cars showed me earlier this month a mars red 1983 MK2 Golf CL. 1.3 carb engine with brutal 55hp and 220k km on the odometer. I bought it for 210€ (~$265). The day after I picked it up I went to the TÜV to see what I have to do to pass the main inspection - but I passed without defects. :]

    My plans for it:
    - Lower it
    - Rota Zero Plus with 165/50/15 Bridgestones
    - some retro bits
    - respray later
    - Pass historic inspection to get a H plate in 2014

    Now I'll let pictures speak

You might say now, whoa, that thing is clean. Nope. It's not. The paint has been fixed on many places, and the previous owners ex-husband kinda liked silicone.

I put the rear coils in the last days, the fronts will need a few days as I need to get some new strout bushings.

And... I bought some brown leather Corrado seats today and I'll pick them up tomorrow

Haha those are some nice repairs. Atleast the body isnt' full of rust and it looks pretty straight.

Seriously way too much silicone, and in odd places too! But at least the body as a whole is straight, for the most part! I really like the early MK2's! Cant wait to see what else you have in store!

Finally got the whole coils in. Height isn't bad for being at a still street legal level. Of course they will be lower with wheels.

Seek and you will find. The both front doors look sadly the same.

I need some new speakers, the original speakers suck! My ears are bleeding lol.
And I need to fix the reverse gear, it isn't working, and that sucks.
Also I got some parts from friends, like new hubcaps, headlights with cross hair and some interior bits.

I drove more than 500km the past 3 days and met today a friend who owns a 1985 MK2. We hooned around and snapped some pics.

    New grille with Hella Fogs

And some VW hubcaps, as the autozone-ish caps suck.

    Thanks guys!

No updates yet, except the gearbox broke. But I need to fix my MK4 first.
