510 build thread

My pops and I just picked up a 1972 datsun 510. The engine just came in last Thursday, this weekend we started making the motor mounts and seeing what our issues will be. Our initial idea was to put a rb26 in it , but we got such a killer deal on the ap1 setup we couldn't turn it down.

the day we got it..


The seats are mint! the camera made them look kinda ruff, i'll get better pics of the interior when we finish the build, idk what the white spots on the camera are...





mixing the paint, custom paint really .. it's milano red + 05 impala maroon red (idk the actual name )


There is your boy putting down some paint under the hood, testing out to see if we like the color & also testing out the new touch up gun aka the interior/ jams guns.


We were in the process of painting the bay but then the motor came in 2 days after ordering it so we couldn't help but stick it in to test fit it.





It's in there better now, The header has to be modified quite a bit. nothing a hack saw can't fix for now my dad is nuts!

We had to modify the header because we were running into more issues with steering clearance.Basically we made a shorty header..



Now it's good, we are youtubing all kinds of exhausts we'd like to put on it. We got it narrowed down to a couple.

The engine mounts are made and the engine is sitting in there perfect.




Yesterday we ran the ecu wiring and installed the ecu inside the car. We also painted the engine bay black .. I'll get pics the next time I'm over there... 2b continued

You may be looking at that last picture and saying why in the world is the front cut and wide open like that. The previous owner had a rb26 in it and I'm guessing it was a mofo to get it in so they cut it. no big deal nothing we can't fix.
