YAY! black friday. i got it for $300 with 2 games, now I just have to sell those games at Gamestop.
That sure does sucks but look at the bright side. If your PS3 had gone out after black friday, you would've payed 300 without the 2 free games haha!

my dumbass brother hasnt stopped playing that damn game. suck you cant put wheels on used cars that pretty much just killed it for me and after some many yrs of waiting you'd think they could have gotten real part companies to be in the game

I'm loving the game so far.... the photo mode is really cool.

The only thing missing... that i can find, is the ability to upgrade brakes. I know that previous versions of the game had this. It seems really weird to me to be able to upgrade a car to 500+ hp and leave stock brakes.

The game is whatever. Pretty disappointed after years of waiting. You cant throw wheels on standard cars, neither are they fine detailed nor have cockpit views. The course map disappears out of no where at times, some textures, shadows, and layers are horrible. for example the back portion of my ek hatch was crazy pixelated, looking like a ps1 game, the left exhaust tip of my 370z was filled in with gold, while the right side looked normal. Some shadows arent blended and just extremely horrible. you have to unlock paint colors..which is stupid and looks like you can only use them once, if im not mistaken.

other than that the racing is on point, customization has been solid like always, except for the fact that you can put wheels on a standard car, and that the wheels selection is so limited. but id give it a 6-7/10. polyphony could have done so much better. shoulda delayed it a year more and come out with a better game. i wouldnt have minded that.

Yeah, I was also disappointed by not being able to put rims on cars. If they would have done that, the game would be set for me. For me, the Nascar is pretty stupid. They wasted their time on that. That's why there is a Nascar game for Nascar racing? Did you guys notice? They DON'T have the "Speed Test Course" where it was a super long oval looking course! Either I didn't catch it yet or they just forgot about the best stage that tests your quarter mile runs.

Brakes don't fade so theres no reason to upgrade them really. If you can lock up the brakes, then they grab hard enough. It's all about tires at that point.

Reason for bad shadows is the dynamic lighting for day/night transitions. You can read about it here.

As far as other glitches... I've not seen much. The game can't be perfect, I think people need to cut it some slack.

At first, I was kind of pissed about the Nascar thing too, but after driving them in the game, I have a new found appreciation for Nascar racers... those things are hard to handle. The strange thing is that here in the US, people either like Nascar or they hate it.. In other countries, if you like motorsports, you enjoy watching any form. I think as americans we tend to have a very "us against them" theme to everything we do.. politics, sports, everything...

The brake upgrade isn't so much against fade...but rather actual sopping power. You are correct, that once a brake is locked up, its locked up and its all about tires, but improved brakes can actually apply more braking power without locking up. That's true in real life and in the game. I agree though. I like the game. If you have time to nitce the shadows, you aren't going fast enough.

Unless you have tires so sticky that the brakes can't lock the rotation of the wheels, the brakes are strong enough. Upgraded brakes can't provide any more grip to the tires than already exists. Ideal slip ratio for braking is roughly 10-15%, that is, the car is moving 10-15% further than the circumference of the tire, per wheel rotation. Provided you can achieve this with stock brakes, on the tires you're using, upgrading the brakes is not going to yield shorter stopping distances.

Modern brake systems are extremely efficient, and hardly require any upgrading unless being repeatedly stopped. And since GT hasn't modeled brake fade, there's really no reason to be upgrading brakes.

    Stop Tech
“You can take this one to the bank. Regardless of your huge rotor diameter, brake pedal ratio, magic brake pad material, or number of pistons in your calipers, your maximum deceleration is limited every time by the tire to road interface. That is the point of this whole article. Your brakes do not stop your car. Your tires do stop the car. So while changes to different parts of the brake system may affect certain characteristics or traits of the system behavior, using stickier tires is ultimately the only sure-fire method of decreasing stopping distances.”
    Source: http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...formance.shtml

Q - Where can I find test data on stopping distances?
A - At the speeds that stopping distance is generally measured from (60 to 70mph), the test is primarily testing the tire's grip on the pavement. As delivered from the manufacturer, nearly all vehicles are able to engage the ABS or lock the wheels at these speeds. Therefore, an increase in braking power will do nothing to stop the vehicle in a shorter distance. For this reason, we do not record stopping distances at this time. The Brembo systems will show their greatest advantages when braking from higher speeds, or when tasked with repeated heavy braking. The increased braking torque provides for maximum deceleration at speed, and the ability to absorb and quickly dissipate the intense heat generated during repeated braking insures that the braking system will perform at the same high level each time.

Totally agree about NASCAR btw... To have the mental stamina to do that for so long is amazing. And being that close to those cars at that speed, on those pitted bumpy tracks... very very impressive. New found respect, indeed.

i played this at a friends house.. tried the go-kart racing lol fun shit! so goofy though. lovin the rally..

i raced a few races and made enough money to build my own white FD with white advan rg-2s.. or rg-1s. i dunno. one of those. clean as shit! drifted it on ss stage 5 the night driving one. i love the amount of smoke that it creates when you drift but it seems to lag the game and it also pixellates whatever the smoke touches.

The game is very intense. And 1000 cars doesn't hurt neither.
Some of the pictures look borderline real.
